Geneve Video to EURO-AV (Scart)

Backgroud:

Last weekend I used a little to much force when I removed the plug of my Geneve Composite Video connector when testing my eprom programmer and thus swapping the eprom's in and out of the boardm. The result was a blank screen when I inserted the connector again. At first I thought it was caused by the new eprom on the Geneve, but when swapping the first Geneve for a second, I quickly ruled this out. So I started to look at the connector. To make things even worse, when I applied to much force to remove the shielding a bit, to see if a wire was loose, I ended up with a connector in one hand and the cable in the other. One thing was sre, it definitely didn't work anymore. So I had to completely rebuild the cable.
I searched for a schematic of the connection of the Geneve's Composite Video output to my Philips CM-8833 monitor's scart connector. I couldn't find one, so I decided to make one myself. The result is on this page.

Technical solution:

And here are the Geneve's Composite video output pin assigments and the standard EURO-AV connector aka scart connector's pin assignments.

EURO AV connector overviewGeneve DIN-8 overview
EURO-AV Connector
DIN-8 Connector
Pin:Description:Pin:Description:
1Right audio out (connected to pin #3). 1+12V when connected to a RF modulator else not connected.
2Right audio in (connected to pin #6). 2GND.
3Left audio out (connected to pin #1). 3Audio.
4Audio GND. 4Composite Video.
5RGB Blue GND. 5GND when used with a RF modulator else RGB Red (depends on jumper setting).
6Left audio in (connected to pin #2). 6RGB Green.
7RGB Blue. 7RGB Blue.
8Not connected / Future use. 8Composite SYNC (vertical + horizontal sync).
9RGB Green GND.
10Clock out.
11RGB Green in.
12Data.
13RGB Red GND.
1410 bit clock / Data ground.
15RGB Red.
16RGB Sync / Blanking signal.
17Composite Video GND.
18RGB Sync GND / Blanking signal GND.
19Video out.
20Video in.
21Shielding / GND.

Connection:
The following connections needs to be made on the cable, connecting the right pins on both the DIN-8 connector and EURO-AV connector:

  DIN-8 Connector --> EURO-AV Connector
               #2 --> #17    (GND)
               #3 -->  #6    (Audio)
               #4 --> #16+20 (Composite Video)
               #5 --> #15    (RGB Red)
               #6 --> #11    (RGB Green)
               #7 -->  #7    (RGB Blue)

And if everything went right and you turned on the Geneve and the monitor, you should see something readable on the monitor now... If not, you obviously did something wrong.
